Hotel Review: The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho | Club Deluxe King
Introduction | Prince Gallery Kioicho
For my last leg of our Japan trip, I wanted to spend my last few nights at an aspirational property that I was keen on staying - the Prince Gallery Kioicho. Opened in 2016, this luxury 250 room hotel has quickly become top destination for many travelers.
Recently, the Prince Gallery Kioicho has become a hot aspirational property for those traveling to Tokyo. With the Ritz Carlton Tokyo and the Tokyo EDITION being almost impossible to book with points, if you had your eye on a fantastic 5 star luxury hotel in Tokyo in the Marriott portfolio, you’d be hard pressed to not choose this property.
I’ve also made a review video on my Youtube Channel, where it documents more on the room details and the room itself, which I hope you can ejoy!
Check-In | Prince Gallery Kioicho
We took a taxi from the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay to this hotel in the morning and encountered your typical Tokyo traffic. Luckily for us, it wasn’t as bad as we feared and we got there within 40 minutes. Located in North Akasaka and close to the government buildings of Tokyo, it’s also relatively close to two subway stations that makes for easy access to several travel destinations.
Location wise, it’s quite upscale. The immediate surroundings may be quiet during the weekends, but during the weekdays, this place is popping due to the workforce coming in and out for work and meetings. The complex of the hotel contains a plethora of restaurants, a pharmacy, a flower shop, a bakery, and a convenience store, great for grabbing those last minute ramen noodles or drinks.
The hotel lobby is located on the 36th floor of the mixed-use development building, with restaurants and companies alike residing on the lower floors of the building. For us, we arrived on the second floor, where the bellman kindly assisted our luggages while escorting us to the lobby. Because we arrived in the morning, our room wasn’t ready, but they still kindly brought us up to check in ahead of time.
The front desk was incredibly friendly and was great at explaining their amenities and our rooms to great detail, which was great. The front desk also confirmed our Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts benefits:
Experience Credit: US$ 100 Food and beverage credit to be used during your stay
Daily breakfast for two
4pm check-out guaranteed
12pm check-in, when available
Room upgrade at check-in, when available
Complimentary Wi-Fi
We were also given access to the club lounge, which was an awesome upgrade as they normally do not include club lounge access for upgrades. This alone made our stay even more valuable as this essentially opened up a series of high tea, coffee and happy hours for us.
The Room | Prince Gallery Kioicho
We were upgraded to the Club Deluxe King Bed room and after spending the afternoon shopping at GInza, we came back around 2pm with our rooms ready. Upon entry, you’re instantly greeted with automated blind and sheers that showcased the Tokyo skyline. The room decor was incredibly bright and clean, with the natural lighting coming from the windows at all times. The views made for some amazing photography moments and we had a blast lounging on the day bed during the night time.
Our coffee table came a with a lovely welcome amenity and note from the concierge team. Because we were also celebrating a few things collectively during this trip, we even got a beautiful swan towel setup, which always makes for a great Instagram post or story!
The bed itself was extremely comfortable and the pillows were super fluffy - the silky sheets and the 4 pillows made for quick sleep between me and my wife. The blinds also do a great job of blocking out all the light from the windows. On one side of the bed, we had an iPad that served as the main control hub as well as the entry to room service and the concierge service. The other side included a control panel for all the room lightings and blinds.
There was a desk and a built-in vanity mirror setup, which to my wife’s disappointment, could not use because I took up all the space with my work gear. There was a Bose bluetooth sound system that was great for accompanying our sleep. There were lots of power outlets scattered across the room and cables for your benefits, including iPhone and HDMI connectors.
Wifi for the room was great as well, and allowed me to upload various pictures across my blog with ease. Of course, this changes as more and more guests check-in and relax at night, but during the early morning, I was almost breezing through every upload and streams with ease.
The mini bar included a Nespresso Machine and hot water kettle, along with various drinks and water. Because of our club lounge access, we took full advantage of that and filled ourselves up with various drinks daily.
The Bathroom | Prince Gallery Kioicho
One great feature about the bathroom is the ability to turn the glass surroundings of the bathroom from transparent to full blackout, allowing for customers to either bathe in the natural light of the Tokyo skyline or shower in peace.
The bathroom came with a single vanity sink - considering the space, I was okay with not having two sinks for this particular bathroom setup. The bathing area included the overhead rain shower along with a massive sunken bathtub. It even comes with a bath pillow and bath salts.
Our bathroom amenities were from BYREDO, which if you haven’t read my blogs, know that i’m a MASSIVE fan of this particular brand. Their fragrance is almost intoxicating and I always found myself drenched with their body lotion at times, haha. Additional amenities also include C.O. Bigelow skincare amenities (wow!0 and your typical toothbrush, razor kits, etc. Overall, this might be the best amenities set up for any luxury hotel that I’ve been to.
Your typical TOTO bidet toilet is also as the far end of the bathroom and are controlled via motion sensors. There is an additional sliding door for privacy, thought it does make the half-bath a bit cramped.
Amenities | Prince Gallery Kioicho
From the spa to the fitness center to the pool, the hotel has it all covered. If you’re into swimming, the spa & fitness center is open from 6:30am to 10:00pm daily and is located on the 30th floor of the building. For me, my main choice was their spa and their fitness center. Because we were staying in the Club level access rooms, we were given complimentary access to their spa, which saved us 2,500 yen per person per day.
For me, the morning visits to the spa was a blessing - guests can either soak in a cold or hot bath that overlooks the Tokyo skyline. Since I’m a early riser, it was beautiful witnessing the sunrise while bathing in the hot onsen. There is also a dry sauna along with a series of showers.
Club Lounge | Prince Gallery Kioicho
Located on the 34th floor, the club lounge is open from 10:00am to 10:00pm. Guests can set themselves up for coffee and tea in the mornings, along with snacks. For us, we also were able to enjoy the afternoon tea and the evening cocktails, which occurs:
Afternoon Tea (2:30pm to 4:30pm)
Evening Cocktails (5:00pm to 7:00pm)
Our afternoon tea was fantastic and actually was a great break for us during our travels in Tokyo. With an assortment of small dessert bites, this was a great way to unwind and relax before our dinner at Souten. The club lounge team was more than eager to drown us in Champagne and wine, to my parent’s immediate glee. I on the other hand continued to enjoy their coffee and tea selections.
If you’re looking for small bites during the night time, their evening cocktails featured a variety of great food selections, almost to dinner level quality. The drinks selections were also fantastic, with various whiskies and top quality wines showcasing itself during the night time.
Breakfast & Teppanyaki | Prince Gallery Kioicho
Breakfast can be had at the Oasis Garden or at Souten, depending on what type of menu you prefer. Oasis Garden features Western cuisine whereas Souten features a Japanese set menu. Breakfast is provided via our Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts booking, but those with Marriott Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador will also have access to breakfast.
If you’re in Tokyo, I highly recommend the Japanese set menu over the Western cuisine. This was one of my favorite breakfast in Tokyo due to the brevity of the dishes and the unforgettable taste. From an assortment of small vegetable dishes to crab to salmon, you’re gonna have a blast with it. It’s an artwork presented to you each morning, and you really can’t help but smile when it arrives. Interestingly enough, for juice or coffee, they up charge 300 yen for it, which I found to be a bit amusing. I mean, if I’m already getting it for free at the Club Lounge, did it really make sense to charge here?
We also spent one of our dinners at Souten’s Teppanyaki for dinner, where we utilized our $100 Experience credit. While expensive, it was a fantastic experience and we had a great time savoring over the various cuts of Wagyu. Word of advice, it’s actually VERY filling and even I had a hard time finishing everything.
Conclusion | Prince Gallery Kioicho
From the very moment you step into the lobby, you’re instantly greeted with a mezzanine that overlooks the two-story Sky Gallery lounge where its illuminated walls fill the ambiance along with the vast Tokyo skyline. You know you’re in for a special treat.
This hotel was a treat and an immediate recommendation in my book. The hotel is large and contains modern bedrooms that would be great for couples and families alike. With excellent amenities and A+ service from their concierge teams along with their lounge staff, this is one of the very best hotels in the Tokyo luxury portfolio. The close proximity to restaurants, bakeries and stores, along with two subway lines makes this a great starting point for any travelers. If I’m ever back in Tokyo, I would be actively looking for another reason to come back to this hotel!
