Hotel Review: The Andaz Singapore | King Bed with City View
Introduction | The Andaz Singapore
Singapore has become quite the hub and workplace for me these last few years, and I’ve come across a few hotels that were exceptional. The Andaz Singapore was no different, and I was glad I got to stay here for a few days in March. The Andaz Singapore was one of the newest additions in the Singapore luxury hotels and featured a modern design marked by a fantastic location.
Location | The Andaz Singapore
This hotel has one of the best locations of any hotels in Singapore. You can literally go from the hotel lobby on the 25th floor to B2, where you are connected to the Subway station and the surrounding plaza surrounding it. Connected to Bugis Station, you can either utilize the Blue or Green Line, which makes getting around Singapore such a breeze.
Additionally, the Andaz Singapore is located near various must-visit places like Haji Lane and Kampong Glam, which are decorated artfully and have various middle-eastern stores and restaurants. Haji Lane is a vibe for Instagram influencers and for those that want a drink or two during the afternoon and after work. If shopping is your thing, a simple walk underground or across the street leads you to Bugis Junction, which features a series of multi-level shopping and restaurants.
AmenitIES | The Andaz Singapore
The lounge at the Andaz is open to all guests and is a massive room with a coffee machine, juice and water dispensers. Snacks and fruits are provided and changes throughout the day. They also have their homemade iced tea that was so good during the afternoon.
The pool is located on the top floor of the hotel and provides surreal views of Singapore. Forget the Marina Bay Sands, just come to the Andaz Singapore! The pool is great for leisure and many people like me utilized it early in the morning. There are various pool chairs scattered across the deck.
There is also the gym that is well equipped and rather busy in the mornings. You won’t find large open spaces but have more than enough machines to workout from.
Room 3527 (King Bed with City View)
Having checked in a bit early, my room wasn’t ready at the moment but was warmly welcomed to wait a bit in the sunroom, where the guest manager kindly escorted me to. A few minutes later, she welcomed me back and brought me the room key, where Room 3527 awaited us.
Designed in collaboration with famed designer André Fu, the interior of the room emphasizes the elements of wood, marble, natural light and the replication of everything organic surrounding Singapore. It was beautiful to witness upon entering. In addition, the windows are equipped with solar control dots - a nod to reducing heat that reduces the amount of energy required for the hotel’s AC unit.
The room wasn’t particularly big, but it felt spacious. Featuring a king size bed with two nightstands, the space felt inviting and warm. Honestly, the room felt bigger than what was advertised, probably due to the design of the space - the breakdown of the bathrooms and the bedroom via the flowing doors make for a a great use of space.
Across from the bed was a TV that would be pivoted to face the sofa and table. The sitting area featured a coffee table with a seat. Power outlets are located throughout the rooms, but do note that these are not universal outlets and thus you may want to bring an adapter or borrow one from the front desk. Honestly, I’m a bit surprised the outlets were not made universal considering that this hotel was built recently and was probably my only disappointment in the room. Otherwise, everything else was great!
the Andaz Singapore’s bath amenities are provided by French boutique Christophe Laudamiel and utilizes a specific fragrance just meant for the hotel. Sadly, the trend continues with static bottles of shampoo and shower gel, though surprisingly they provided a bottle of lotion alongside another static bottle hung on the wall.
A Special Welcome | The Andaz Singapore
Normally, amenities include something like a small gift or a dessert. Nope, here at the Andaz Singapore, they went all out and brought over something that would feed us for the whole night! What I loved was the authentic excitement from the guest relations manager, Margaret, and her ability to make our stay such a special one.
Closer to night time, she arranged for a plate of satay (my favorite) along with iced cold beers, a fruit plate and a dessert plate.
Breakfast & Room Service | The Andaz Singapore
Breakfast is served at Alley on 25 - previously, it was a set menu that one could order from. Post-Covid, it’s back to being a buffet. Breakfast spreads range from congee to satay to western omelets and bacon - the fresh fruits and bakery spreads were delightful and I found myself downing 3-4 croissants within a minute. The staff were very attentive and at times continued to remove the many plates that I had on my table. You won’t go hungry, that’s for sure!
I had had a room service a couple of times due to a series of packed events during the week and weekend. The Chicken and Rice was so good that I ordered it twice, to the amusement of the Room Service staff. The rice was fully soaked in chicken stock, making for a great bowl along with the soft and tender chicken. Service was incredibly fast and efficient, and the staff was great at quickly removing our room tray within minutes.
Conclusion | The Andaz Singapore
As an Andaz property, the vibes and the staff made for a great time and a great representation of what the Andaz brand means for guests. From the modern and beautiful design of the buildings to the warmth of the guest rooms, this Andaz checks off all the boxes for being a great 5 star hotel.
The hotel location is perfect for those that want immediate access to the MRT station, along with a series of restaurants and shopping districts close by. It’s a perfect base for almost anyone visiting Singapore.
