Hotel Review: Andaz Scottsdale | Sonoran Wellness Suite

Hotel Review: Andaz Scottsdale | Sonoran Wellness Suite

Introduction

The last hotel review for 2022!

For those following along with me on the travel blog, it will come to no surprise that I adore the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Bungalows. It’s one of my favorite Hyatt properties due to its perfect mix of nature and urban lifestyle, along with its amazing pet policy and its friendly dog menu! Phoenix is great 300 days of the year, with a bountiful amount of restaurants, bars and hiking trails second to none.

I won’t go into details regarding the property itself as I’ve covered it in-depth with the last visits here:

Check-In

Rarely does it rain in Phoenix, Arizona - but it seems that every time I head down in the wintertime, it just decides to rain. This didn’t stop us from checking in early, as I was excited to show the property to my family and my dog, who had accompanied me this time around.

After check-in, we proceeded to drive to our room - highly recommend parking by yourself as it’s super convenient and there are plenty of parking spots across the resort. It’s actually quite easy to navigate the resort property. The property is made up of a collection of standalone bungalows, which makes it quite intimate and very easy to navigate around.

Property

The property ground are stunning and very well taken care of. There are paths that intertwine the properties, making morning and late night strolls a breeze. Buildings are color coded so you can can easily figure out where you are. There are various fire pits scattered across the property, and during the fireside social event, you can go to the front desk and ask for smore’s kits - this was our highlight of the night as we enjoyed the fire pit while stargazing into the sky.

Pet-Friendly

The Andaz Scottsdale resort is one of the best pet-friendly resorts that I’ve been to. The layout of the resort along with the sprawls of grass fields made or an amazing time for my corgi. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel comfortable bringing our dog around. They even have a dog menu, which consists of scrambled eggs, beef patties and chicken!

Location

The Andaz Scottsdale is situated near Old Town Scottsdale, which features a plethora of amazing restaurants and shopping vicinities. The hotel provides complementary shuttle service from a 3 mile vicinity, which is incredibly helpful for those dinner reservations. Forget Uber, take the Jeep Grand Wagoneer instead! This ideal location is perhaps why a lot of families and couples love to stay in Scottsdale.

Sonoran Wellness Suite (19E)

The Sonoran Wellness Suite is exactly the same as the the Sonoran Suite I reviewed a while back, with two entrances and two small patios that have a table and a bench. What’s interesting is that we had two cruiser bikes that unfortunately I had no chance to use due to the rain.

Our room came equipped with a Tonal Gym (interactive workout on a screen) along with several free weights, bands, a bench and a few pulley accessories. Yoga mats are plenty and if you’re in the mood, there are two cruiser bikes just outside of your room for your own riding pleasure. It’s one of the great perks of this room and highlights how much the resort cares for the health and wellbeing of their guests.

The room itself is gorgeous. As mentioned in my previous reviews, the layout of evokes simplistic mid-century designs and utilizes splashes of colors with their artworks found in the rooms. In our living room we had a massive seating area along with a two separate lounge chairs, a massive TV, along with a connected full size bathroom. The Nespresso machine can be found in the living room along with a few cups and pods.

Both bathrooms are massive and contain a massive free standing shower stall. Incredible spaces from the vanity area and tons of natural lights are found via the skylight. The shower had enough space to fit a bridal party and the finishes were particular beautiful. Sadly, the trend of fixed shower and shampoo amenities were also found in both bathrooms, which is a bit of a disappointment.

To be honest, I’m not sure if I would book a Wellness Sonoran Suite over the basic Sonoran Suite. Sure, if you’re really interested in working out with the Tonal machine, it’s definitely worth a shot - but the layout and design is identical and I would save the $$ since the fitness center on the property is one of the best in the area.

Summary

If you’re ever in the midst of wanting a relaxing place to relax, exercise and unwind, this may be the place to be. Bask in the gorgeous architecture, soak in the oven-like sun, patio cocktails and a beautiful scenic walk that one can enjoy.

If you’re planning a trip to Phoenix or Scottsdale, I highly recommend checking out this resort - it’s a beautiful and stunning resort that would outclass a series of 5 start around the area. If you have Chase or Hyatt points to use, this would be a great candidate for it.
