Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle's Southport

Introduction

They got the name wrong. Should be a Grand Hyatt.

Once in a while, you get a hotel that exceed your expectations, and without a doubt, the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Seaport is one of them. Located 11 miles from downtown Seattle and literally right next door to the Boeing Renton factory, this is one of few unique hotels where the property matters more than the location itself. If you love airplanes, you’re love watching some of the assembly and under-progress aircrafts.

Booking | Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

As a category 3 Hyatt hotel, it qualifies for the Hyatt free night certificate that one can get with the World of Hyatt credit card, or alternatively 12,000 World of Hyatt points. I gladly redeemed one of my free night certificate for a night stay, knowing that my Globalist status would at least be granted an upgrade upon check-in. Rooms can range from $160 to $499.

Check-In | Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

Upon arrival, I lined up to check-in as it was approaching 1:30pm - a few business travelers were checking out as well as flight crews. The concierge manager came over and asked if I wanted to check-in at her station. She was incredibly friendly and super accommodating, and I wished I got her name to give her a shoutout. The process was smooth and my Globalist status was recognized - we were upgraded to a Corner Executive Suite on the highest floor, along with the perks that came with Globalist, such as free parking, waived fees, breakfast at the lounge and more. (I’ll break it down further in the blog post) It was such a pleasant experience at a Hyatt Regency, as it felt more Park Hyatt than anything else.

After some pleasantries, she was able to get the room checked out and went out her way to bring the keys to us during our lunch at Water Table. This kind of service is exceptional and one that really makes this hotel one of the very best in the Seattle region.

The Room | Executive Corner Suite

A quick waltz to the elevators, and we flashed up to the 12th floor, which was the highest for the hotel. We were in Room 1225, an executive corner suite that featured beautiful views of the lake and the surrounding area. This was a beautiful and spacious suite that featured several interesting designs. My room had a small working desk and a great living room space, along with the wet bar. The TV is massive for a Regency and I had no problem watching some Netflix and NBA while we unwinded during the nighttime.

The bedroom itself was properly spacious and featured another TV alongside the open closet space. What’s lovely about these rooms is the built-in nightlight that is motion sensitive, so if you’re suddenly awake and need to use the bathroom, the ground light on your side lights up to not disturb other folks.

Wifi was blazing fast and I was able to upload all my pictures and content in one go during our downtime. If there was only one caveat to this room - there was no ceiling lights! This made for a surprisingly dark room at night time, which is kind of surprising, considering how advanced this hotel was. However, the room was incredibly soundproof (we had our dog with us, so this was a blessing) as well as massive windows that brought in natural light in both the living and bedroom.

The Bathroom | Executive Corner Suite

The bathroom was spacious and featured a glass-encased shower that had some magnificent shower pressure. Compared to my last review back in 2019 (you can read it here), it seemed like this room’s shower pressure was definitely a lot stronger my previous experience. The bathroom was plenty big enough for two people to get ready and relax. The amenities were from Phbarmacopia, a natural bodycare brand that is around $55 per a shampoo and conditioner bottle. Not exactly my favorite but I do realize a lot of customers love this brand. There were plenty of space alongside a dedicated toilet hub, which made more privacy.

Hotel Amenities | Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

The hotel is vast and very airy for all the guests to enjoy. The view of the lake is the first thing one will see when entering the lobby, and the staff across the board were all super friendly and accommodating. You can walk towards the stairs that leads to the 1st floor, where it leads outside to the boardwalk and the conference rooms. The hotel feels very premium and very upscale - this feels way more luxurious that your typical Hyatt Regency and more on the Grand Hyatt side of things. Warm wood tones and soft seating is scattered all around the hotel grounds.

Let’s talk about the hotel destination fee, which was waived for Globalist members.

  • S’mores Experience: From 6-8pm at the Market Cafe, you can present the experience card for complimentary s’mores kit and roast them at the firepits

  • 15% discount on Market Retail Items

  • 10% discount at the Spa

  • 10% discount at the Seattle Chocolate Factory Tour

  • Wine and Beer Pour (a free pour from 4-5pm) at Water Table

  • In-Room Water Bottles

  • Premium Wifi

  • Free Amazon package delivery

  • Wellness Classes at the Fitness Center, ranging from Total Body to Spin to Yoga

As a Globalist, the fee was waived along with valet parking, which saved us $$$ during our stay. In addition, we were given the following:

  • Breakfast at the Regency Club from 7-10am (M-F) and 8-11am (Weekends)

  • 2 hours of exclusive access to SIP Lounge (3-5pm) where you can enjoy a complimentary hot appetizer and a glass of wine, per person

  • Regency Club Access from 7-9pm (though I’ve gone in at 10:30pm to get tea)

  • 4pm Late Check-Out

This made redeeming my free night certificate a massive bargain when you compare the amount of amenities and upgrades we were given. Without a doubt, the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington at Seattle’s Seaport is one of the hotels that are a notch above in their service and amenities, and I applaud them for all of this. It made this stay extremely memorable.

Club Lounge | Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

This is one of the best club lounges in the West Coast.

As a Globalist member, I was given access to the club lounge that came with some superb perks. The Club Lounge is located on the 2nd floor on the opposite side of the restaurant, and a lovely staff will come and check you in. The club serves breakfast for its members, a special happy hour for Globalist members from 3-5pm and 5-9pm onwards with snacks and drinks.

The space is incredibly large and filled with natural light from the outdoors, and it very inviting for those looking to enjoy the view of the lake. The lounge featured a variety of drinks from juices to soda and water, along a series of tea selections and coffee. After 5pm, the lounge becomes the SIP lounge, with a sushi bar and a chef that makes curated orders.

Breakfast selections were fantastic that included an abundance of fruits, cold meats and cheese, pastries and bread, hot items from bacon to scrambled eggs to potatoes. Smoked salmon was also present and I made myself a lox to go.

The hotel also features a fully equipped (and i mean well equipped) fitness center with fantastic views of the boardwalk and the lake. This is one of my favorite gyms in Seattle from a hotel and features a series of equipment that you would only find in high-end gyms. In addition, there is a beautiful indoor pool and spa that is open for guests, along with the hot tub and steam room in its respective locker rooms. It’s a great place to either unwind or start your day, and I found the temperatures to be just right.

I went back in the morning for breakfast at the Club Lounge, and to my surprise I believed there were only a handful of guests utilizing the breakfast service. I was able to snatch up a couple of shots without guests to give a more detailed breakdown of the lounge itself.

Dining | Water Table

Dining at the Water Table was just as great as I remembered it back in 2019. Located on the 2nd floor alongside the lounge, market and lobby, it overlooks the lake and offers dining all day. The service was amazing with our server being attentive and super friendly. We ordered a series of appetizers and main courses having driven up from Portland on an empty stomach, and the food did not disappoint one bit. The clam chowder was so good, along with the steamed clams.

There were additional restaurants that one can try, but we honestly vouched for Water Table and its amazing array of selections.

Conclusion | Hyatt Regency Lake Washington

Seattle has an abundance of Hyatt hotels ranging from the Hyatt House to the Grand Hyatt, and yet - this Hyatt Regency Lake Washington is perhaps the best and most attentive of them all. From a points perspective this is one of the best redemptions from the Hyatt program on the west coast, and one that I will continue make as I visit Seattle more often.

I would absolutely recommend the Hyatt Regency Lake Washington as the first choice for those visiting Seattle with a car, as its 5 star service, amazing club lounge, fantastic restaurant and relaxing vibes around the hotel is something that is well warranted. While it’s understandable that some may prefer the Hyatt at Olive 8, The Hyatt Regency Seattle or the Grand Hyatt Seattle if they’re visiting downtown Seattle, but I highly recommend taking a look at this hotel as well.

At night, we got the s’mores kit at the market - and as I wanted to bake some marshmallows, it started to rain! Next time I guess!
