Hotel Review: Hyatt Regency Seattle | 1 King Bed Corner

Introduction

The Hyatt Regency Seattle recently opened in December 2018 and owns the title of being the largest hotel in the Pacific Northwest. While the hotel caters to the massive tech community (Amazon is literally next to it), there were a ton of cheap rates during my time of stay. While it didn’t really make sense to use points, if you have a Hyatt Free Night certificate, this would be a great use!

Interestingly enough, all the Hyatt hotels (Grand Hyatt, Olive 8 and Hyatt Regency Seattle) are all within walking distance of each other.

When I arrived, check-in was a breeze. I was assigned a lovely corner room that almost acted as junior suite. Upon taking a super fast elevator up to the 35th floor, i was impressed with the hallway layouts and pictures spread throughout the rooms.

ROOM 3515 - King Corner Room

As a Globalist member, I was given a King Corner room instead of a standard room, which I thought was a nice upgrade. There were no suites available due to the flux of incoming tourists, but even then, the room itself is very spacious. All the materials were expensive to the touch and the bed was incredibly comfy.

This hotel is very GENEROUS with the TV size - I believe this was a 70” and the biggest one I’ve seen in a Hyatt hotel. The typical spread of a coffee maker, mini fridge, two bottles of water and the usual amenities were all in the room. The room plans are every open and littered with USB/standard outlets, along with floor level motion sensor lights, something that I love when one is waking up grudgingly for the bathroom at 3am in the morning.

Bathroom was pretty typical of a modern Hyatt hotel, although I was not a fan of the half-shower door design. Clearly the designers need to rethink how this works. Also, I was not a fan of the shower pressure, which I understand is to save efficiency and water utilization, but come on - sprinkles are not gonna count.

The Regency Club: Boy, I’m Coming Back

Yeah okay, this is probably one of the top 3 Regency Clubs I have ever been in. It’s truly one of the nicest club lounges anywhere, with so much space and viewpoints. The space is huge and very well-done, with a variety of seating options to suit every need. The breakfast spread is fabulous, with multiple hot items including meats every day. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and tasty desserts are really good too. There’s also an honor bar that’s set up for the late afternoon and evening, with a selection of beer, wine and make-your-own mixed drinks.

The Regency Club also has a large outdoor patio/terrace (for days that it isn’t raining!). Some of the outdoor seating is arranged around fire-pit tables. Back inside, they also have a selection of games such as an oversized Connect Four frame.

As you can tell, we’re quite smitten with this Club. Let’s take a look around, mostly in pictures.

When you enter the Club, you’ll see the welcome desk on your left, which includes a selection of newspapers. The desk isn’t always attended. There’s usually a sign-in sheet on the far end of the desk, but they’ve never been overbearing about making us sign in.

The Hyatt Regency Seattle also boasts great surroundings and activities around the area. I embarrassingly was craving Shake Shack and quickly found one next to the Amazon headquarters, only a 7-10 minute walk. It’s also a 0.5 mile walk from Pike Place Market, a mile from the Space Needle, Chihuly Gardens and the Pop Culture Museum. Being Seattle, there are a ton of amazing coffee shops located around the vicinity, with LIME scooters easily accessible should one require more a faster mode of transportation.
