Hotel Review: Intercontinental Singapore Robertson Quay
Luxury Residential Living meets 5 Star Caliber Service. Easily one of my favorite Intercontinental Hotel ever.
This may be my favorite Intercontinental property of all. Opened back in late 2017, the Intercontinental Singapore Robertson Quay is the premier Intercontinental in Singapore and represents a culmination of luxury and privacy, all wrapped into one beautiful package.
The moment I stepped out of the taxi and into the entrance of this fabulous hotel, it felt very much like a return to an expensive luxury condo - you simply make your way up to the 4th floor to where the check-in area is. Here, the experience is what you expect from a 5 star hotel - magnificent aptitude towards their guests, great social awareness and a great outlook in what their customers want. In my case, it was the ask of any potential suite for the duration of my stay in Singapore.
I won’t spoil the details (next post inbound!) but they were able to secure me a Junior Suite, which is something of a miracle considering the time of my arrival in Singapore during the public holidays.
Location and Area of Interest
Located near the river at the Robertson Quay, it’s definitely on the quieter side of things compared to its older counterpart in Bugis. Nevertheless, don’t count this place out, as it makes it up for some insane views and a runner’s paradise with its running trails alongside the river.

Room 1009 - Top City King Room with River Review
As an IHG Intercontinental Platinum Ambassador, the day of check-in allowed me a step up in room, which gave me the highest floor with a blessed view. Compared to its older sibling, this hotel definitely feels modern and very chic - but the bias may be the room size.
Measuring only 23 square meters, it’s definitely bordering between the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in for a 5 star hotel to the most interesting layout that I’ve ever set foot in. However, the Intercontinental Singapore Robertson Quay did a fantastic job for its size - everything is an interior design marvel. There is leather and expensive material everywhere in the room, and nowhere did anything feel cheap.
The King-Size (looks bigger due to the size of the room) bed was also a great place to sleep, though I still vote for the latter at the Intercontinental Singapore. It comes with so many pillows that I ended up sleeping with a mountain of pillows surrounding me at night. The room also comes with a phone that has unlimited 4G data and unlimited local calls.
Light panels are everywhere and easy to use. they can be located close to the panel near the bed or near the bathroom. Universal power outlets are here for use and for access charging. The ability to control the sheers and blind remotely again exudes luxury.
While the bathroom does not come with a tub (I’m very cool with that, waste of space sometimes), the bathroom itself is incredibly luxurious. The privacy glass in the shower and the glass enclosing the toilet actually makes the room look a lot bigger than it is. Interestingly enough, the toiletries brand here isn’t the Agraria, but rather This Works brand, which I loved so much more.
As seen in the pictures, there isn’t a proper work desk, but a small working area with a round table close to the floor-to-ceiling windows. With outlets close by, I found working here a breeze and had a few moments of enjoying the sunset and sunrise in Singapore. It’s really beautiful in this viewpoint. The view shows the famous skyline and the paths for running along the river during the evening or morning. I had a blast in the morning when it came to exploring the area.
There’s also a Bose Solo Bar and a TV that one can use to watch their devices (Airplay built in, yay). The mini-bar was removed and only held two creamers, to which I used gladly with my Nespresso coffee. In addition, the property hosts a new tea brand called Monogram, which I thought were incredibly fantastic.
Summary
I simply LOVED this Intercontinental hotel. It definitely has my vote of confidence of being in the top echelon of luxury hotels in Singapore, and a premier in the Intercontinental brand. This may a modest-size hotel but the service is that of a grand-size 5 star hotel. Everything screams luxury and expensive tastes - from the moment you enter to the the room service to the Club Intercontinental, this is THE hotel for business or private travelers that value privacy and service over anything else.
