Hotel Review: Alila Napa Valley

Introduction | Alila Napa valley

In what may be the most eagerly awaited hotel on the west coast, the Alila Napa Valley is simply a superb and exceptional luxury property that will easily garner more and more attention from travelers from around the world. Hyatt has hit a home run with this inclusion, and we can’t wait to see them perform at 100% when everything returns back to normal.

Located at the northern tip of St.Helena, the resort is also just a bridge away from the award-winning Beringer Vineyard Estate. For most luxury travelers, St. Helena is more of a small town vibe that features fantastic wineries and hidden restaurants tucked away in various streets. Indeed, the hotel is more of a romantic getaway than a social gathering, which the Andaz Napa provides.

If you’re short on time, you can also check out my review of the hotel on my Youtube channel! It’s as detailed and focuses on the room itself!

Our adventure began when I caught wind that the hotel was opening up - a quick glance at the Alila website showed that I was able to book two nights at the hotel for 60,000 Hyatt points (this was booked in 2021, before the devaluation occurred). As a Globalist member, I was then upgraded to their Corner King Vineyard View with Balcony, which I think is actually better than their Vineyard Suite. You’ll see why.

Below are some pictures from my camera that hopefully do some justice to the amazing property. After that, the images describing my stay are from my iPhone.

Corner King Vineyard View with Balcony | Alila Napa Valley

Before arrival, I noticed that we were given the junior suite - our room was #338, which in essence has one of the best, IF NOT the best view of the Beringer Vineyards and the property. I believe this still stands valid well into their opening.

This massive room is at 1,035 square feet, with a L shaped balcony that really encapsulates the magnificent views of Napa Valley. Since we were on the highest floor, we had a fantastic view of the sunset that was unobstructed by anything. One sofa sits right in the front of the balcony, whereas a six-people dining table and a fire pit sits on the other side of the balcony.

Natural lighting flows into the room and we had no problem leaving our lights off for the majority of the time. The room comes with two electronic panels that controls two blackout shades. The design of the suite was fantastic, with a separation of the toilet in its own half-bath while the rainfall shower and tub is in its own section.

Our room was presented with a glass jar full of some AMAZING handmade cookies, along with Kollar Chocolates (great as a wine pairing). The cool water bottle was also a plus. In addition, the general manager also came about and granted us another jar of cookies, to which I think diabetes was creeping in after our devouring of all their delicious cookies.

The Bathroom was fantastic, with a huge rainfall shower and a sleek tub (we didn’t use it but nevertheless a worthwhile addition to the room). Our toiletries during our stay was the Davines MOMO - a great and subtle scent.

If there was just one caveat to our room, it’s the awkward positioning of the television. It’s almost an afterthought when the room has such a majestic view. Ideally, perhaps adjusting the television closer to the table would be better, rather than next to the console table.

If there’s anything I want to TL:DR - the views are insanely beautiful, no matter which room you get that’s facing the Beringer Vineyards. But if you want to spoil yourself, I firmly believe this is the jackpot suite to grab.

Acacia House | Alila Napa Valley

We had breakfast both mornings, with Globalist members getting a $75 credit per night. Their breakfast sandwich was incredibly delicious, and they even went beyond just serving us humans! Even our corgi Katsu was served dog-friendly chicken, which we are incredibly grateful to the chefs at the Acacia House. Thank you for giving us such an amazing weekend with you all!

At night, we were treated to an amazing delight with the bartender Stephen, who culminated various Old Fashioned delights for us to enjoy. His years of experience and explanation made learning about drinks a delight, and I would easily highlight this as a huge addition for the Alila Napa Valley property.

Fitness Center

The Alila Napa Valley has a fantastic fitness center that sits below one of their resort buildings. Separate from the spa, the fitness center is huge for what I thought would be a small part of their resort. Various treadmills, stationary bikes, a rower and multiple outdoor bikes are there for your use, while various free weights and medicine balls are available for more of a creative workout. Cable machines and two traditional upper body machines reside next to to each other. Outside of the fitness center, there is another fire pit, presumably because you know, workouts aren’t nothing without a bit of fire.

Summary | Conclusion

The Alila Napa Valley is a fantastic addition to the Hyatt portfolio, and an amazing place to stay in the Napa Valley region. No longer restricted to the Andaz Napa or the faraway Hyatt Regency Sonoma, the Alila Napa Valley will without a doubt garner more intimate travelers looking for a property that serves an authentic 5 star service across the board. The hotel is incredibly beautiful, with beautiful yet minimal designs that entice its guests with gorgeous views everywhere.

The Alila Napa Valley is a category 7 World of Hyatt hotel, with each night setting you back 30,000 points. On average, the cash price for a typical standard king room is around $750 to $900 (with dates in April to May of 2021). Using Hyatt points here would be great value for any travelers looking to utilize their points, since Hyatt also waives resort fees when people book using points.

Special Thanks to the Team!

Special thanks to the Alila Napa Valley team for working overtime and for making our stay worthwhile. Just the kindness and attention to detail has made me vying for this hotel as one of the best places to stay in the area. Ultimately, the Alila Napa Valley is the #1 choice for anyone that’s looking to splurge on luxury and privacy, or someone that’s wanting that extra spark or romance for their next date. It’s the place to be, right now.
