Hotel Review: The Park Hyatt New York

Introduction | Park Hyatt New York

This post has been updated to reflect the changes made to the category. At the time of review, the Park Hyatt New York City was at a Category 7. Still, it’s worth it on a off season!

The Park Hyatt New York City was one of the dream hotels that I’ve had on my checklist since beginning this travel journey together with my wife. I had high expectations for this hotel and its service, given the parallel stays at the Park Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Seoul, which were both fantastic.

I had a plethora of points that were added after reaching spend on my World of Hyatt Cards, so after a quick search on Hyatt’s website, we were able to apply the free nights to our trip to New York City. While we were booked for a King Room, we were upgraded to a lavish 1 King Bed Suite, which was averaging around $1000 a night during January. This was fantastic considering at the time, I was not yet a Globalist member yet. We appreciated the upgrade and continued to thank the staff for their amazing service during our stay.

1 King Bed Suite | Park Hyatt New York

Our 1 King Bed Suite was incredibly lavish and massive for the size in the city of Manhattan - to my wife’s account, we basically got a large luxurious studio apartment in Manhattan. A really nice one at that.

Designed by the famous firm Yabu Pushelbe, they’re modeled after some of the best luxury residences from around the world. It definitely showed. Upon entering, you open into a hallway where the closet and the bar is located. In the living room, the massive floor to ceiling windows overlook the famous 57th Street and is easily closed with a touch of button.

We were greeted with a glass box of chocolate covered strawberries along with a nice bottle Prosecco that made flying almost a full day worth it. Amenities included, but not limited to what I saw: Nespresso coffeemaker with chinaware, a beautiful bar stand, luxurious bathrobes, multiple TVs everywhere (I counted three in my room), free newspaper delivered every morning, custom-designed furnishings that include the sofa, tables and chairs. Turndown service here was on point and they kept it incredibly professional with slippers and bottles of water and chocolate laid out each night.

Moving to the bathroom - surrounded by some of the best stone textures I’ve ever encountered, this bathroom is a work of art. It had double sinks, a separate room for the toilet and shower, and an elegant tub that we utilized on our last night. The toiletries at the Park Hyatt is also some of the best - Le Labo products are some of the finest and most expensive in the world, and they are customized to the hotel's preference.

Amenities | Park Hyatt New York City

Guests staying in suites get two clothing items laundered for no cost as well as access to the the hotel's in-house car, which was a black on black Mercedes S-Class. This was useful when we had our date night dinner a few blocks down. In addition, the hotel also provides complimentary shoe shine and two garment pressings per stay AND a free bike for two hours during the warmer season. This is quite the lovely service we have and one I wished I could have used if I was here in the spring of fall time.

The absolute must for checking out this hotel is their pool and gym area. This spectacular pool actually plays classical music as you perfect your 100m freestyle or backstroke, and is also heated. It was the highlight of my trip and I’ll never forget it. A large hot tub and steam room are also available and a good way to decompress after a long day.

Conclusion | Park Hyatt New York City

The Park Hyatt New York will be a steadfast property that aims to impress even the most lavish of clients from the world. With a prime location in Midtown, a plethora of suites and rooms, and perhaps one of the greatest indoor pools I’ve come across, it’s one of the finest Park Hyatt hotels and one of the greatest hotels in the Hyatt portfolio.

While the hotel has become quite expensive on both a points and cash front, it’s still a fantastic redemption option during off and regular season. With it being a category 8 hotel, off-peak season requires 35,000 points awhile standard nights require 40,000 points. If I’m ever back in the Big Apple with my Globalist status, I look forward to reviewing it once more and seeing how the hotel has progressed!
