Hotel Review: Sheraton Redding Hotel at the Sundial Bridge

Introduction

Nestled in the heart of Northern California, the Sheraton Redding Hotel stands as a testament to luxury and comfort, offering an oasis of a retreat that seamlessly blends modern elegance with its surrounding natural beauty. Located in close proximity to the renowned Turtle Bay Exploration Park, guests find themselves immersed in the captivating allure of nature, with the Sacramento River meandering nearby and the park's expansive botanical gardens and wildlife center just a leisurely stroll away. The hotel is also very pet-friendly, and you can pay the pet fee ($75) that includes a pet bed, food and water and treats! At Mosaic, they even have a dog menu, to which our dog gladly pounced on.

This is easily one of the best hotels to stay in before heading up into Oregon or Mt.Shasta.

Location | Sheraton Redding Hotel

The Sheraton Redding hotel is located near Turtle Bay, right next to the historic Sacramento River and the exploration park, rodeo grounds, civic auditorium and memorial park. It’s a fantastic area to have a long stroll next to the river and across the Sundial Bridge, which is beautiful both in the morning and at night. You’re also close by downtown and Mt. Shasta Shopping Mall, in case one needs some shopping done. It’s a great hotel for those looking to explore Burney Falls State Park and Mt. Shasta, as it’s relatively close and a great home base for those doing a day trip around the Mt.Shasta Trinity National Forest.

Check-in | Sheraton Redding Hotel

I had booked our night using a Free Night Certificate that I got with my Marriott Business Amex Card, which gave me 3 free nights up to 50,000 points. I used two nights to book a night going up into Canada, and another coming back. Cash rate at the time for a room was around $285 for a king bed, though we ended up with something way better!

Check-in was a breeze and an incredibly pleasant experience. I was helped by Karly, who was super friendly and even recognized status, as some Marriott hotels sometimes forget to do. Due to the length of stay, I inquired if there was a suite available. Karly was able to get us a corner 1 king bedroom suite, which was a fantastic room for us to unwind after a long drive up from the bay area. Cash rate for that room was around $500, so we got an amazing upgrade! In addition, we were given access to the Sheraton Lounge , which was located on the 3rd floor. We had a car, so parking was $13.00. Can’t complain about that.

Overall, I was already in love with the property and its friendly service!

Room 350 | Sheraton Redding Hotel

Our room was at the very end of the hotel grounds, which was either a long walk from the room to the lobby, or a quick drive to the other parking lot and some stairs up. Like the hotel, the hallways look relatively new and incredibly well-kept. The hallways were well-lit and kept to attention (are we sure this isn’t a Westin?) The Sheraton signature bed is incredibly comfortable and easily knocked us out after a long drive up. The room contained Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea, along with two bottles of water. All rooms come with complimentary WiFi, as well as in the lobby and restaurant. Suite rooms also include robes and slippers.

I must say, I’m impressed with the 1 King Bed Corner Suite. The plush king-size bed beckons weary travelers to unwind, while the spacious sitting area provides the perfect spot for relaxation. We had a great time unwinding before heading to bed, ready for the next leg up to Portland.

What sets this suite apart is its exclusive access to the hotel's lounge, offering a private space to unwind and savor complimentary refreshments. Whether catching up on work or simply enjoying the scenic views from the lounge, the elevated experience adds a touch of indulgence to every stay. I will say though, the lounge is not as sophisticated as one may perceive, although their breakfast is fantastic.

Bathroom | Sheraton Redding Hotel

The bathroom was clean and came stocked with Gilchrist and Soames amenities, though they came in the communal sized bottles. The scent Warm Oak was fantastic and we had no problem with the water pressure here. Overall, a great place to get ready and freshen up.

Hotel Amenities | Sheraton Redding Hotel

The Sheraton Redding Hotel goes beyond the confines of its luxurious rooms, extending its charm to a range of recreational facilities. Fitness fans will appreciate a proper fitness center, equipped with modern machines to ensure a satisfying workout. I love working out in hotels that have windows to the outdoors. The outdoor swimming pool invites guests to bask in the California sun, while the adjacent jacuzzi provides a soothing retreat for tired muscles. Unfortunately it was 35 degrees fahrenheit towards the end of our trip and we went straight up to our rooms. I would have loved to plunge into their heated pool one day.

The on-site restaurant, Mosaic, is such a delight. Boasting a menu that caters to diverse tastes, Mosaic stands out with its incredible happy hour offerings. Among the highlights is the West Coast's finest pizza, featuring a delectable fusion of flavors that has quickly earned a reputation for being among the best in the region. Guests can indulge in this culinary experience while soaking in the relaxed ambiance of the restaurant. I can easily endorse their pizzas as some of the very best that I’ve had in the United States. Breakfast are healthy and delicious - you can’t go wrong the Mosaic Breakfast, serving up two eggs, fingerling potatoes, arugula salad and bacon. Check out their breakfast menu here!

Mosaic | Breakfast & Dinner

Mosaic is the hotel’s main restaurant and one I’d highly recommend in a heartbeat. You can enter via their own lobby or through the art gallery connector, where you can witness several artworks that one can buy.

When you get to Mosaic, you’re greeted with a space that is modern and warm, something that really elevates this hotel above all the other Sheratons. Since we brought our dog with us, we opted to eat at the patio with the heat lamps on. The pizza here is one of the best that we ever had - my wife had the gluten-free option ($5 surcharge, but absolutely worth it) and was fantastic.

Like I mentioned before, this place is super dog friendly, and they even have a dog menu for your fur friend!

Conclusion

The Sheraton Redding Hotel isn't just a place to stay; it's such an surprising experience that is well deserved. With its prime location near Turtle Bay Exploration Park, lavish suites with lounge access, well-equipped fitness center, inviting pool and jacuzzi, and the culinary excellence of Mosaic, the hotel offers a holistic retreat for every kind of traveler. The redemption value of a stay at Sheraton Redding was fantastic for what I redeemed it for, and would gladly recommend this place to anyone traveling into Redding and onwards. From the Sundial Bridge to the Turtle Bay Exploratory Park to the bike and walking trails, this hotel is close to all your wants and needs!

Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape or an adventure-filled getaway, Sheraton Redding proves to be an oasis of luxury in the heart of Northern California.
