Review: TETRA hotel, Autograph Collection
Introduction | TETRA Hotel
This newly minted TETRA hotel marks a second presence of an Autograph Hotel collection in the Bay Area, with Hotel NIA being the first at Menlo Park, CA. For those new to this Marriott brand, Autograph Collection hotel features beautiful artwork, and fun games in the Nexus indoor/outdoor area prior to entering the hotel. As a local, I was curious what the TETRA would bring to the growing boutique brands of hotels sprawling across Silicon Valley.
Some other fun notes: the Tetra Hotel is pet-friendly for an additional fee with a maximum of 2 pets allowed. Complimentary WIFI are included as are fitness classes.
Parking | TETRA Hotel
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a lovely valet attendant that broke down the parking options. On-site parking is $22 daily and $5 hourly. Valet parking is available for $28 and there are 8 electric car charging stations on the first floor.
Amenities | Tetra Hotel
Located on the 3rd floor of the TETRA hotel, the fitness center and the pool reside in conjunction with the AC Hotel’s fitness center. The fitness center is equipped with pretty high-tech equipment such as your typical Peloton bikes, but the fitness center is pretty much standard across the various hotels that are growing across the Bay Area.
Nice part is, you get to workout to the pool view. Bad news is, I think most folks that will be living here will be using their own company’s fitness centers, like Google, Microsoft or Meta. Interestingly enough, I was told that guests of the TETRA can also use the fitness center at the AC Hotel, which is interesting, because the equipment here is so much more usable and more variety.
The pool is quite standard for a rooftop pool., though I’m not sure if the pool is utilized during the weekdays at all, and with all the construction ongoing around the vicinity, I’m sure most folks would rather stay indoors for the time being. However, I loved the cabanas and lounge chairs, and loved the pool deck and a lounge area ion the back of the pool side.
King Bed | TETRA Hotel
The room was relatively large and spacious for a business traveler. A large 65 LCD TV accompanies the wall, while a sofa and a table awaits you and your tired body on a given day. A puil-out mini fridge came with two complementary Evian water bottles.
Heading into the bathroom, the typical tissue box, makeup gear and MiN New York Body lotion and hand soap are there. I’m quite a fan of this newly discovered brand. Additional amenities include a loofah, shoe sponge, vanity kite and a great amount of towels. The shower was large and had great water pressure, and I was able to actually utilize both the rainfall shower and the hand-held shower at the same time.
Sadly, the refillable bottle trends continue with all the luxury hotels i’m staying at. However, the MiN New York Brand was great and they smelled fantastic. And if you opt for a suite, you get something so ridiculous in the likes of a Dyson hairdryer, which is valued at $400.
Fun tip: I loved using the Theragun mini personal massager – available in Tetra Hotel suites.
The closet was a surprise. There’s the typical iron and Iron board, along with the various hangars. However, the second portion of the closet contains Belliino Fine linen jersey bathrobe and an additional sweatshirt hoodie, which were incredibly plush and comfortable. Damn, those slippers were comfortable.
You can also charge more stuff as the there are two power outlets and a USB outlet. Not sure if I would be charging something in the closet, but it’s nice to see more ports for charging.
For the coffee fanatics out there, you will enjoy micro-powdered coffee from Coffee Manufactory and tea savants will enjoy the latest Harney and Sons tea choices. Again, props to the TETRA for not skimping on any of the amenites. This really impressed me.
The 65” TV is of the latest offerings, allowing customers to watch their latest shows and movies through various apps. The interface is quite useful and also has Airplay, that is - if you can find your TV LOL. Below the tv is the countertop that spans across the rest of the room. Theres lies the coffee and tea maker, along with the safe and the fridge. There’s a guide on how to use the kettle and is listed as a Coffee and Tea Experience. I was a fan and immediately got to work on it.
Next to it lies a glass pitcher and two glasses - there are hydration stations on each floor that allow you to fill up on water or ice.
The massive king bed was very comfortable and the pillows were equally relaxing to engulf my head in. Very high quality and definitely felt incredibly plush to the touch. There are multiple power outlets on both sides and a great amount of charging ports, both USB and AC outlets alike.
Underneath the tables are motion-activated lights that are great for the night time - really useful if you suddenly have the urge to take a pee break in the dead of night. There was also a notepad and a Tetra branded pen (again, wow hello detail!s!).
Conclusion | Tetra Hotel
Overall, the hotel room felt incredibly luxurious and modern, and really elevated the Autograph collection in terms of its services and hard product. If I was to guess, TETRA will be incredibly popular amongst business travelers in next 2-3 years as Google wraps up their latest campus, which is right across from the hotel.
The location is greatly suited for those visiting Silicon Valley for business or pleasure - a car is still recommended, though Uber can get you from place to place.
