Hotel Review: The Regent Taipei

Introduction | Regent Taipei

The Regent Taipei remains as one of the best Taipei hotels with its amazing service, superb food selections and close proximity to various shopping and MRT lines. The hotel is a favorite amongst locals and international celebrities which housed both the likes of Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson.

The hotel is also the only hotel in Taiwan to house an over 50 luxury boutiques in its shopping mall, which to us mere mortals, window shopping at its finest! However, there are quite a few selectable shops that offer great pastries and little goodies that everyone can enjoy.

Prices can range from 13,600 New Taiwan Dollars (US$448) per night for a Superior room to NTD 80,000 (US$2,635) per night for a large suite on Tai Pan floors. Special offers and the hotel’s Web site sometimes offer substantially lower rates.

Room | Regent Taipei

We were placed in the deluxe room setting, which indeed was quite spacious and abundant in space. A two- piece sofa along with a working desk and office chair accompanied the enormous bed. Lots of marbles in the bathroom helps keep up in modern times, and bidet toilets are standard. Vibrant views of Taipei is abundant and I had a blast capturing some nice night photography cityscapes of Taipei. At 21 stories high, you’ll want a high floor to get the whole view of Taipei.

If there was only ONE caveat, it’s that the AC isn’t as strong as I thought. Mind you, I run really hot at night and it took a while for the room to cool down. However, I had no problem after the room cooled to a nice temperature.

The bathroom is quite typical, filled the various luxury amenities and the shower pressure is incredibly strong here. Any shower pressure that has strong pressure immediately gets 4 stars in my playbook, haha. Our amenity kit contains so many various items that I had a blast sorting each one and opening them up one by one.

There is also a fitness center that is located at the bottom basement of the hotel. It’s open around 6am to 10:30pm, and while the fitness center was quite huge, I unfortunately had no time to visit or use it to during my stay. The Swimming pool is on the rooftop, which is fully heated all year round.

Breakfast | The Regent Taipei

Hands down, this is one of my favorite hotels for breakfast.

I’ve never been to a breakfast buffet where the entire half of the basement floor is dedicated to its massive servings of food. Towards the back of the Brasseire are floor to ceiling glass windows, showcasing the richness of Taiwan’s abundant natural trees and shrubbery, while the other section of the dining halls hosts various tables and sectionals for families and businessmen alike to eat and dine.

There is definitely an almost overabundance of selections for breakfast. Everything from noodles to taiwanese dim sum like turnip cakes, fried dough sticks to Japanese breakfast food to American savories like bacon and sausages to even a wide variety of soups, salads, fruits, pastries and so much more. No wonder so many locals love to come here for breakfast.

I’d highly recommend at least working out beforehand or taking a nice, long walk after breakfast to burn off the copious amounts of calories, haha.

Conclusion

The Regent Taipei is certainly one of the finer hotel establishments in Taipei and has the feeling and aura of a luxury resort. Novelties like the photo butler and other services around the hotel provides affluent travelers a sense of wellbeing and care during their stay in Taipei.

With a 5-star staff at your every whim to a fleet of impressive Mercedes available for airport transfers or business travels, the Regent Taipei is a fantastic to splurge your hard-earned money at!
