Flight Review: Singapore Airlines 777 Business Class
This review is part of the Travel Report (Anniversary in Japan) and contains both airlines, hotels and lounge reviews during our visit to Japan and Singapore. Please enjoy!
Introduction
After spending more than 5 hours at the Haneda Airport to check in, we finally got in and went insane with shopping everything we could before boarding the aircraft. While I should have provided the ANA Business Class Lounge at HND, we were simply too tired and too annoyed to even bother with it. I didn’t even want
Singapore Airlines’s business class actually comes in different configurations, and for the flight to Singapore, we actually had the same variation as our flight into Japan. So instead of the OH YEAH i’m in first class seat, we were simply confined to OH YEAH business class seats. There’s just like how I remembered them back in 2017.
The Business Class
Elegant and super stylish, when the mood lighting turns purple, this place becomes incredibly luxurious and beautiful to sit in. The business class cabin is actually split into two parts, with 12 seats in the front and 36 seats behind. It’s definitely noting that the 12 seats in the front are probably the best bet for privacy and quiet moments, which I really required for this flight into Singapore.
Seats are easy to adjust for lounging with the seat controls, but making it into the bed requires one to fold the backrest down to turn into a nice bed. Each seat comes with a nice ample 18” display along with the usual controller on the side panel.
My wife and I had seat 12 and 14K, which were on the right side of the aircraft, with each seat having 2-3 windows. Surprisingly, the cabin was literally just 6 people in a space of 12, which was rather odd. I assume most people don’t like flying this late at night, but to me, this was the best time to go.
The seats themselves are well designed and quite comfortable. Incredibly wide and padding to spare, there is enough room for two people to chill in. You have your typical “so much storage” spaces in the seat itself, along with the outlets and headphone jacks. Of course, the seat comes with a ton of amenities, such as USB charging ports, LED reading lights, HDMI port and some random port that I don’t really know the use for. There’s also WIFI, but it’s definitely not even worth $$ it.
Noise cancelling headphones are provided as well and are usually tucked away in one of the storage bins along with a bottle of water.
As far as amenities go for this flight, there isn’t much to have other than the typical slippers, socks and eyeshades, to which I also requested for ear foams to sleep with.
Given that it was a super late flight, I intended to sleep immediately on the airplane once in the air, and the stewardess knew that was coming. Once the seatbelt sign came on, she came directly to me, set up the seat into a bed with a ton of pillows and water bottles, and mad sure I was comfortable. That’s the service we like to call 5/5. As a redeye flight, I didn’t want to remain awake just to eat dinner - sleep was of the essence. There was no turbulence during the way, which was awesome.
With an hour left, I woke up to the sound of breakfast being prepared. Service was flawless as usual, with the perfection and attention that warrants their 5 star service. The entire breakfast service went without a hitch, and the food was spectacular. The croissant and garlic bread remains my two favorite types of bread on these flights, and boy did I load up on my carbs in the morning!
Conclusion
Singapore Airlines is known for offering the best on-boarding experience there is for any airlines, and they certainly did not disappoint. Because our cabin was half full, we were given more treatment and focus, which definitely helped our flight to Singapore.
The cabin continues to be spectacular and great for the value, although like i mentioned, some seats are starting to show age and wear. The bed remains fantastic so sleep on, and the food remains top notch. So overall, the experience remains to be one of the best in the business.
