Introduction | Chase Hyatt Business Card
Starting off in 2024, we have various credit cards coming up with new offers. Currently, there’s an 75,000 Hyatt point welcome offer for the Chase World of Hyatt Business Card, which actually has improved from its previous welcome offer of 60,000 points. The personal Chase World of Hyatt card remains the same at 50,000 points and is only recommended if you really need the points for an aspirational property near-term.
To begin, I think this card is meant really for those that spend a ton on one card, as it’s incredibly easy to attain elite nights and Hyatt points. You can pair this with Chase’s trifecta cards and transfer those points to Hyatt to have even more points up front. The Ink Cash, Ink Business Unlimited and Ink Business Preferred are great business counterparts.
Breakdown | Chase Hyatt Business Card
Let’s review the offer:
First, you would get 60,000 points after $5k in spend within the first 3 months. The second part is new: an additional 15,000 bonus points after spending $12k within 6 months. So in essence, you get 15k points for that additional $7k in spend. While its not as appealing to spenders that want points up front, for those that spend big on their businesses, this may be worthwhile. The annual fee is $199, which is $100+ more than the consumer credit card.
Some of the Benefits:
2x interchangeable spending bonus that rewards you for the two categories in which you spend the most each calendar quarter.
5 elite night credits with each $10K spend, which means you rack up elite nights faster than spending on their consumer card.
10% back on redeemed points after spending $50K in a calendar year (Up to 20K points back per year)
Up to $100 in Hyatt credits: Spend $50 or more at any Hyatt property in the world and get a $50 statement credit up to twice per cardmember year. This is pretty much cash if you frequent or visit a Hyatt hotel.
Discoverist status for the cardholder and the ability to gift that status to 5 employees (those employees do not have to be employee cardholders)
If you were able to do the majority of that additional $7,000 in the adaptive bonus categories, you’d end up with 29,000 points (14k from the spend and 15k from the bonus), or a little over 4 Hyatt points per dollar. You’d also get five elite night credits for hitting $10k on the card. For folks hunting the coveted Globalist status, that might be enough of a win to make that $7k worth it. Others will want to just go for the initial 60,000 points.
Do note, this does not come with an annual free night certificate or annual elite night credits compared to the World of Hyatt consumer card.
Utilizing just the first year, it’s worth considering whether it makes sense to hang onto the card. I continue to keep it since I can easily use the twice-yearly $50 credits and I value the ability to manufacture 5 elite night per $10k in spend. For many, though, the math won’t work out. In total, you would earn 75,000 Hyatt points after spending $12K within the 1st six months, which also at minimum would net you 12,000 Hyatt points on top. It’s close to 90K points by the time you hit it, which would grant some amazing aspirational properties.
Chase Application Tips
Chase Shutdown: Signing up for new Chase cards can lead to Chase reviewing your accounts. This may lead to Chase shutting down all of your accounts if you appear to be a credit risk.
5/24 Rule: With most Chase cards, you won't get approved if your credit report shows 5 or more cards opened in the past 24 months.
24/48 Month Rule: With most Chase cards, you can get the same card and bonus again 24 months after having received the bonus as long as you no longer have the card open. With Sapphire cards, you must wait 48 months. No wait is required for Chase Ink cards.
30 Day Rule: It is tough to get approved for more than 2 Chase cards within 30 days
Get Same Card Again: You can get the same exact card and again if you first cancel the older card and follow the 24/48 month rule. Ink cards are OK to get again without cancelling previous card if you apply with a new business.
Hard inquiries combine into 1 when approved same day (not always true when mixing business and personal)
Conclusion | Chase Hyatt Business Card
If you’re in need of Hyatt points and want to chase Hyatt Globalist with lots of business spend, then this card might be worth it. With its current offer of 75,000 Hyatt points, it’s a fantastic deal that can net you multiple free nights across Hyatt’s global portfolio. In addition, it has some useful perks that benefit those that spend their hotel nights at Hyatt - its ability to nab 5 elite nights for every $10,000 spend is an incredible benefit. Overall, I think it’s a great card for small business owners that like staying at Hyatt hotels.
