News: Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya Opening March 2024!
Introduction
Hyatt House is landing in Tokyo.
Per the newsroom blast, the Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya will make guests feel genuinely at home with an elevated, spacious, and perfectly self-sufficient experience close to offices and commercial facilities in Shibuya. The hotel is now accepting reservations for arrivals starting March 15th, 2024 onwards, and it looks like a lot of April is being booked out for cherry blossoms, so get on it if you’re heading to Japan!
Location
Located just southwest of the Shibuya station, the area is being redeveloped as part of a major transformation of the Shibuya district, one of Tokyo’s most popular areas for entertainment, shopping, fashion, and dining. The area's diverse new urban facilities will enhance Tokyo's international competitiveness and create an ideal living and working environment for overseas guests. The location is prime for those looking to explore Tokyo and have a home base in the middle of everything. From Harajuku to Shinjuku to the Meiji Jingu Shrine, you’re all within a good walking distance.
The Hotel & Bedrooms
Each of the hotel’s 126 spacious guest rooms, ranging in size from approximately 344 to 915 square feet (32 to 85 square meters), will offer home-like amenities including a well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, plush bed, and cozy living room. The suites are quite roomy, with over 64 to 85-sqm of space, which is very spacious for Tokyo. Those with Globalist status can easily utilize their suite upgrades or their status upgrade to grab one of these magnificent rooms. The base rooms are also quite spacious, with 32-spm as standard and driving with the Deluxe rooms. These look fantastic to stay in and I can’t for the final outcome.
The lobby will face an airy rooftop garden and the property will feature an indoor swimming pool, lounge, H Bar, and restaurant. The Moss cross Tokyo restaurant looks to focus on western-styled breakfast buffet, and lunch and dinner is more Japanese-French focused. I expect breakfast to be popular item, though it’s slightly disappointing it’s not included for all guests (which is odd, because Hyatt Houses are supposed to provide breakfast irregardless?)
Let’s take a back a bit - there is even an indoor pool, a rarity in Tokyo, and something you will normally find in a more expensive hotel. In addition, Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya's communal space, Fitness Room, and other facilities will be designed to appeal to modern, self-sufficient travelers who appreciate relaxing, socializing and working as if they were at home.
Why I’m Excited
What makes this so newsworthy? It’s a category 4 hotel from Hyatt, which makes it eligible for Hyatt renewal certificates via co-branded credit card. I took a quick glance with my own account, and the suite at 21,000 points is quite worth it, as the cash price will probably skyrocket towards the high $600s during Cherry blossom season. The free night certificate from the World of Hyatt Credit Card is an absolute deal as the average hotel night here is around $300-$400, depending on seasonality.
I’ll be considering this hotel as the Hyatt Regency Tokyo is approaching past its age, the Grand Hyatt Tokyo and Andaz Tokyo being way too hard to book these days, and the Park Hyatt Tokyo is undergoing extensive renovations. The Hyatt Centric Ginza is a nice alternative, though the rooms are quite small. Ultimately, Hyatt has plenty to offer, if you have the points!
