Hotel Review: Four Seasons Hotel Austin

Introduction

Nestled along the shores of Lady Bird Lake, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin stands as a beacon of luxury in the vibrant capital of Texas. Since its opening in 1986, this prestigious establishment has been setting the standard for high-end hospitality in Austin. Located at 98 San Jacinto Boulevard, the hotel offers a perfect blend of urban sophistication and natural beauty, with stunning views of both the lake and the city skyline.

Back in 2018, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin underwent a multi-million dollar renovation, breathing new life into its already impressive offerings. The result is a modern, stylish retreat that perfectly captures the essence of Austin – a city known for its eclectic charm and warm hospitality. Fast forward to 2024 on a work trip, I was excited to review this hotel once more (Back in 2020, I was reviewing it based on the refresh: 2020: Four Seasons Austin Review) and capture if anything had changed!

Deluxe King Room | Room 917

Check-in was a breeze, and the front desk manager/agent, Hannah was a blessing to work with. She was super accommodating and provided all the latest info and help during my stay! My stay in the Deluxe Lake-View High Floor Room was nothing short of spectacular. At approximately 420 square feet, the room felt spacious and airy, and the AC was strong! The breathtaking panoramic view of Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline was a sight to behold when one enters the view - it’s definitely a view worth waking up to!

Given it’s a Four Seasons, the room's furnishings struck a perfect balance between comfort and elegance. Custom-designed furniture, including a super plush king-size bed, created a homey yet sophisticated atmosphere. The writing desk proved to be an ideal spot for catching up on work, while the armchair and ottoman by the window offered a perfect perch for enjoying the view with my morning coffee. Speaking of which, coffee is provided every morning along with tea at the lobby floor.

Tech-savvy travelers will appreciate the room's modern amenities. The 65-inch flat-screen TV provided crystal-clear entertainment, while the portable Bose speaker allowed me to enjoy my personal playlist throughout my stay. It’s a fantastic place to stay.

The bathroom is typical Four Seasons fashion - high quality materials, fantastic amenities and some of the best bathrobes I’ve ever used. Gleaming marble features set the tone for a spa-like experience. The layout, with its separate bathtub and glass-enclosed shower, offered versatility and comfort. I was particularly impressed by the thoughtful touches during my stay, such as amenities mat and organization of my own personal bathroom amenities, to the additional toothbrushes after forgetting my own. The lighted make-up mirror was a welcome addition, and the plush bathrobes were perfect for lounging. The toiletries added an extra touch of luxury during the wind-down of my day.

Amenities

Fitness enthusiasts will find plenty to love at the Four Seasons Austin. The 24-hour fitness center is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines regardless of their schedule.

However, it's the outdoor offerings that truly set this hotel apart. The saltwater pool, surrounded by comfortable loungers and private cabanas, provides a refreshing escape from the Texas heat. For those who prefer to stay active outdoors, the hotel offers direct access to the 10-mile hike and bike trail circling Lady Bird Lake – a perfect way to explore Austin's natural beauty. If it wasn’t only 104 degrees outside during August, I would have gladly embarked on a running adventure around the area. It’s beautiful.

I was delighted to discover that the hotel offers complimentary yoga classes. While the schedule varies, this amenity adds a wonderful dimension to the wellness offerings. In addition, there are various classes scattered across the week, which one can find the schedule in your room.

Breakfast

Ciclo, the hotel's signature restaurant, offers a breakfast experience that shouldn't be missed. Open daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, it serves up a delightful mix of Texas-inspired cuisine with Latin influences.

I opted for terrace seating, which offered stunning views of the lake – a perfect backdrop for starting the day. The menu features an array of options, from house-made pastries to hearty Texan favorites. I was particularly impressed by the use of locally-sourced ingredients, which added freshness and supported the local community. The breakfast tacos, a nod to Austin's culinary scene, were a standout. Paired with freshly brewed coffee and the morning sunshine, it was a meal to remember.

My stay at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin was truly exceptional. The hotel masterfully combines luxury with local charm, creating an experience that feels both indulgent and authentically Austin.

From the stunning views in the Deluxe Lake-View Room to the excellent dining at Ciclo, every aspect of my stay exceeded expectations. The attention to detail – from the custom furnishings to the thoughtful amenities – showcased the Four Seasons' commitment to guest satisfaction.

What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is how it embraces its Austin location. By incorporating local influences in its design and cuisine, and by providing easy access to outdoor activities, the Four Seasons offers guests a genuine taste of what makes Austin special.

For travelers seeking a luxurious base from which to explore Austin, or for those simply looking for a pampered escape, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin is an excellent choice. It beautifully represents the warm hospitality and unique character that the city is known for, wrapped in a package of world-class luxury.
